The Detained – The Beast

Contra Records / Longshot Music / Tape Or Die

The beast has been unleashed! It took a while, but after two ass-kickin’ EP’s (“Aghet”, 2015 and “Iron & Blood”, 2016) The Detained’s debut album “The Beast” is finally among us! Are you ready for some savagery from Berlin? Good! Because that is exactly what you can expect on the band’s first full-length!

Set to destroy, the Berliners drop ten new tracks in little over 25 minutes. Maybe a bit more melodic than their previous EP’s – no worries, it really is just a little bit – The Detained still deliver that raw, unruly fusion of Oi! and hardcore you would expect from them. They say barking dogs don’t bite, but I wouldn’t take the risk with these brutes, because front man Basti sounds like he will gnaw your face off in a heartbeat! Don’t say I didn’t warn you...

The most melodic track of the ten is without a doubt “Into The Fire”, not just musically, but vocally as well. Featuring Becki Chaos of Chaos UK and Spite, it’s a little different from the rest, but a great track nonetheless. But that’s it. They didn’t call this album “The Beast” if it was a cute and approachable puppy. “The Beast” is an untamed, crude motherfucker with vicious scorchers for fans of Urban Savage, Concrete Elite, Fuerza Bruta and No Time, gnarling out one stomper after another!

Favorites are “Berlin’s Burning”, “Terrorist Movement”, “Pissing On Your Grave”, title-track “The Beast”, “God City”, “Nothing Is Me”... though I could honestly name them all. This album stays gold from start to finish and I am glad it’s  finally coming out in its physical form (I got sent the music several months ago already), because it isn’t just the music that is sick, the artwork is off the wall as well! Get this!
