Gonna Get Yours – A Thousand Faces

Une Vie Pour Rien Vinyles?

Releasing quality over quantity, the French label Une Vie Pour Rien? never seems to disappoint! Therefor I don’t even have to listen to Gonna Get Yours’ full-length debut LP to tell you it’s good – but for my own listening pleasure I did, and so should you!

Because the ‘quality over quantity’-label could be given to the Parisians as well. Not only did it took these lads over four years to follow-up the fantastic “No Picture – No Glory” 12”, this is also the band’s first Long Player ever since their formation back in 2005! To say that “A Thousand Faces” was worth the long wait is definitely an understatement though, because Gonna Get Yours rips it up from start to finish on their debut album!

Unlike the majority of the French bands out there, all of Gonna Get Yours’ releases are completely in English, and a “Thousand Faces” is no exception. Accentless English I must add, because front man Lord J sounds like he’s coming straight out of Britain – since I don’t know him personally he might just be – while the music, a mix of adrenaline fueled Oi! and hints of highly energetic punk rock, provide the perfect beat to Joss’ vocals – I love it!

Delivering 11 tracks in just under 38 minutes, the band produced hit after hit with one sing-along anthem after another! Charged with melodic guitars, the majority of the 11 songs is brought in a up-tempo pace that is full of energy, making it extremely tough to either sit still or to not chant along – so I suggest you don’t even try and bother, because with songs like “Sweet Revenge”, “A Changing State”, “Underground Attack”, “Thunder”, “Dogs Of War”, “Unusual Casuals” and “The Man Of A Thousand Faces” you won’t stand a chance!

Now let’s just hope it won’t take another 13 years for Gonna Get Yours to release their sophomore album, because “A Thousand Faces” tastes like more... A lot more! Definitely one of my favorite releases of 2018 so far!
